Saltoun Primary School pupils have raised thousands of pounds to help create a kitchen in the third world.

While supporting the Mary’s Meals appeal, the older children watched a video portraying the plight of children in poor areas of the world.

Living in substandard housing, they are not able to attend school regularly and may have to scavenge for food.

Moved by what they saw, the Saltoun youngsters decided to raise £6,000, the amount quoted as being enough to provide a kitchen which could produce a hot meal every day for the children at school.
