Motorists using the Edinburgh bypass between Sheriffhall and the A1 junction can expect lane closures and road alterations in the coming weeks.
By September 20, traffic on the A720 will be diverted to a temporary new road to allow the next phase of the Borders Railway construction to take place.
This dual carriageway has been constructed adjacent to the bypass, providing four lanes of traffic and maintaining the existing capacity of the A720.
Before motorists can be transferred to the new carriageway, several off-peak lane closures of the bypass are required to allow the team to align the new piece of road with the existing route.
