Police urge householders to be vigilant following break-ins

Police chiefs have warned householders to be on their guard after a rise in housebreakings in East Lothian in the last few weeks.

Inspectors Andrew Harborow and Ian Mackay said Police Scotland was determined to reduce this type of crime by targeting and arresting offenders but added that the help of the community was needed.

Homes might be targeted due to regular work patterns, identifiable periods where the home is unoccupiedor where the premises are insecure.
