Police appeal after woman indecently assaulted in North Berwick

Police Scotland officers in East Lothian are appealing for information after a woman was indecently assaulted in North Berwick.

Door-to-door enquiries have been carried out and investigations are ongoing following a report that a 22-year-old woman was assaulted by a man while walking along Bank Street.

The incident happened sometime between 9.30pm and 10pm on Tuesday 20th May.

Inspector Ian Mackay said: “This was obviously a very distressing episode for the woman and anyone who saw anything suspicious in and around Bank Street on that evening is urged to get in touch.

“An incident like this is a rare occurrence in North Berwick and I would like to reassure the public that we are carrying out patrols and officers are working hard to identify the person responsible.”

The man police are tracing is described as being 50 to 58 years old, around 6ft 2in, of broad build, with short receding grey hair and a big pointed sloping nose. He was wearing a dark jacket and dark jeans.
