Calls for a sheltered complex to be built in Ormiston instead of affordable housing are to be investigated by East Lothian Council.

More than 100 people have signed a petition organised by Sandra Colquhoun (63) and Tina Leitch (67), members of the Primrose Day Centre.

Members of the petitions’ committee heard their plea at a meeting last Thursday. Mark Ormiston highlighted two proposed new housing developments at Ormiston – 120 houses behind Limeylands Road, and 70 between Limeylands Road and Tynemount Road – where the new medical centre is being built – which would be the preferred location for a new sheltered housing complex.
