A community police officer’s work with disadvantaged young people in Tranent has earned her a nomination for a major award.

Zara McDowell has been shortlisted for the National Youth Worker of the Year Awards 2014, run by YouthLink Scotland.

The awards recognise and celebrate outstanding achievement with young people by managers, practitioners, peer educators, teams and individuals who work within Scotland’s youth work sector.
