A former soldier punched his girlfriend so hard a surgeon claimed her injuries were “the worst he had ever seen” in a female patient.
David Glover launched the savage attack after he had been humiliated by Kathryn Archbold, who pulled him from a house he had been visiting.
Ms Archbold then slapped him all the way back to the house they shared in Tranent.
But when the pair were alone inside their home, Glover turned on Ms Archbold by smashing her in the face and breaking two of her teeth.
As a result of the attack Ms Archbold was forced to undergo reconstructive surgery to the injuries she sustained to her mouth.
The attack took place in February 2011, but only came to light after Ms Archbold reported it last year when the couple’s relationship broke down.
