A plan to build a house and use farmland as a garden was approved by East Lothian Council’s planning committee on Tuesday.
A dozen councillors were in favour, with four against.
Over the past five years David Greenan has unsuccessfully tried to get planning permission for a house on the site at ‘Elanora’ in Dirleton Road.
A planning report stated that the proposed contemporary house of “almost agricultural design” would result in “a cramped form of infill development”.
