A decision to put a new £15,000 bus stop right on the junction of a town centre site in Dunbar has attracted protests from residents.

Philip Immirzi, who lives opposite, criticised East Lothian Council’s lack of consultation with those who live in the area known as Abbeylands in the High Street.

He claimed the new bus stop would “stack up to an increased safety hazard” and voiced concern about the environmental impact including litter.

Mr Immirzi said: “Without any real notice, exactly one working day to be precise, I received notification of a plan to alter the configuration of the post office parking bay so that it may accommodate a new bus stop.”
