Concerned residents have formed an alliance to fight plans for a major energy park, which they fear could destroy their communities.
On Monday night, more than 400 people attended a public meeting in Chalmers Church Hall, Port Seton, to discuss proposals being considered by Scottish Enterprise for the redevelopment of Cockenzie Power Station.
Backing was given for a new Coastal Regeneration Alliance for Prestonpans, Cockenzie and Port Seton to present the communities’ own “positive vision” for the site and the adjacent coastal area.
The group describes itself as “non-protest and non-political”, set up to share the views of local communities and develop proposals for the East Lothian coastline from Morrisons Haven to Longniddry Bents and neighbouring areas.
