Derelict stables near Musselburgh Racecourse have been earmarked for demolition by East Lothian Council to make way for a children’s home.
The community is being consulted on plans for the former Millhill stable block, which occupies a narrow strip of land linking Millhill Lane and High Street.
The council wants to build state-of-the-art residential facilities for the Pathway children and young people’s centre, currently based at Meadowmill, near Tranent.
The home would provide rooms for six young people aged 12 to 18, along with staff accommodation and communal areas.
Stables have been on the site for well over 100 years, but have not been used since 2010 when the new stable block opened at Musselburgh Racecourse.
