A Musselburgh pensioner is too embarrassed to drive to church after vandals spray-painted obscenities along the side of her car.
Mairi Dewar (77), who lives with her 87-year-old husband in Pinkie Road, was shocked to find her orange Fiat covered in vulgar drawings and X-rated words, scrawled in big black letters.
She now fears the 12-year-old Cinquecento could be a write-off if the cost of the respray is more than the car is worth.
She told the News: “It’s an old car but it only has 25,000 on the clock and it’s worth a lot to me. I call it my shopping basket because I only use it once a week to do my shopping or when we go to church.”
Since the vandals struck at the end of last month, Mrs Dewar has had to get used to “funny looks” when she plucks up the courage to drive the car.
