A man who was alerted by text to someone transferring £1,200 from his bank account was left shocked when he discovered the culprit was his own son.
Brian McCutcheon received a text from his bank informing him a new transfer had been created on his account.
But when he rushed home to Eskdale Mews, Mussselburgh, to call the bank, he found son William (25) had changed his account user name and password and it was he who had stolen the cash.
Brian immediately called the bank to inform them of the fraud and was told he could have his money back, but only if he informed the police to his son’s dishonest dealings.
William McCutcheon, whose address was given as an Edinburgh bed and breakfast, pleaded guilty to stealing £1,200 from his dad’s bank account on December 8 when appeared at Haddington Sheriff Court on last Wednesday.
