Two men have been charged with the theft of dental equipment following a joint investigation by Police Scotland and NHS Counter Fraud Services.
It is alleged that between March 2011 and September 2013 NHS Lothian received a delivery of over 300 dental hand pieces, valued at more £220,000 to Duncan Street Dental Clinic, Edinburgh.
They were then transported to Edenhall Hospital, Musselburgh, East Lothian where the items were discovered to have been stolen.
Through partnership working by NHS Counter Fraud Services and Police Scotland a 53-year-old man and a 39-year-old man were charged with alleged theft and £100,000 worth of the stolen property was recovered.
They will appear at Haddington Sheriff Court on Wednesday, October 30.
