A drug dealer who was caught with £35,000 worth of cocaine at his Musselburgh business premises has been jailed for three years.

Steven Thayne claimed he had been holding the drugs for someone else and had only been caught out when he was delivering some of the Class A drug back to the owner.

But the self-employed engineer was found to have drug paraphernalia including bags and scales as well as the drug itself at his business premises in Musselburgh.

Defence agent Colm Dempsey told Haddington Sheriff Court his client was not in the “upper echelons of the drug trade” but was instead a “young man with a limited record”.
