Longniddry community consulted on substation proposal (Video)

East Lothian communities are being consulted on plans by Inch Cape Offshore Limited to build an electricity substation on land between Prestonpans and Cockenzie.

The development, if approved by East Lothian Council, would link a proposed offshore windfarm in the Firth of Tay to a National Grid connection at redundant Cockenzie Power Station.

An exhibition and consultation event was held at the Longniddry Inn last week to allow residents and community groups to provide feedback on the proposal, which would bring electricity ashore through underground cables.

David Rose, chairman of Longniddry Community Council, gave us his views on how the development might impact on the village.
