A village pub is set to reopen its doors after East Lothian Licensing Board granted a licence for the premises last Thursday.
The board was inundated with letters of support from locals and a petition with 229 names calling on the Elphinstone Arms to be saved from closure.
In March, councillors threw out a bid to reopen the pub amidst police concerns about “drug misuse” associated with the premises and an incident involving between 15 and 20 masked men demanding to get in.
Last week, the board discussed another application for a premises licence for the Elphinstone Arms submitted by M F Publications Ltd.
