Leuchie House, which provides respite care for people with long term medical conditions, has been shortlisted for
the Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations’ Charity of the Year Award.
The North Berwick-based facility provides respite care for people with long term medical conditions such as multiple sclerosis.
East Lothian’s MP Fiona O’Donnell and MSP Iain Gray, who backed the centre when it was threatened with closure, were delighted at the news.
Leuchie, which was established as an independent charity less than three years ago, is competing for the award against four other Scottish charities. It is now also in the running for the ‘People’s Choice Award’ which is determined by a public vote. Votes at www.scvo.org.uk/scottish-charity-awards
