Plans for a business park on land near Musselburgh Golf Club have suffered a setback following a legal row between planners and developers.
Lothian Park Ltd this week failed in a bid to extend its planning consent for the development of four office buildings and a 120-room hotel – with the potential to create up to 500 jobs.
Legal submissions to a meeting of East Lothian Council’s planning committee on Tuesday, were rejected by officials, who insisted that permission – granted in January 2011 – had now expired and a new application would have to be submitted.
The company is now considering its options for the site and another in the area, with a view to securing planning consent for one of them.
