An unlucky motorist was in for a shock after parking his car on a harbour slipway, writes Alexander Lawrie
The silver Peugeot was soon engulfed up to its roof by the incoming tide at Dunbar harbour on Saturday afternoon.
The owner of the drenched motor, said to be from Dunfermline in Fife, had been delayed after his own sailing boat had broken down and had to be rescued by the local lifeboat crew.
Gary Fairbairn, coxswain of Dunbar Royal National Lifeboat Institution, said his crew was called out to rescue the driver at around 1pm.
He said: “The car owner unfortunately left his car on the harbour slipway while he went for a spot of fishing.
