A community councillor has uncovered what he thinks are the initials of his famous ancestor carved at Hailes Castle near East Linton.
After reading an article in the News, Ian Watson decided to go public with the discovery he made by chance four years ago.
It was reported that another North Berwick resident, Tim Wheater, had found what he believed were the initials of Robert Louis Stevenson carved into bedrock east of town. Stevenson, best known for his books Treasure Island and Kidnapped, enjoyed boyhood holidays at North Berwick.
