A campaign by Yes East Lothian got underway in Gullane, with more roadshows and public meetings planned in the coming months.
As Scotland prepares to decide on independence on September 18, debates will take place in East Lothian’s six main towns, featuring a range of speakers.
Councillor Fraser McAllister, SNP member for Musselburgh West, said: “There is an obvious risk that Yes speakers from different parties or of opposite political opinions will give very different answers to the same questions but why not? This is a constitutional referendum. It is far bigger than a general election or a personality like Alex Salmond or a party like the SNP. It is about the principle of a nation’s self determination.”
