A plan to build a new clubhouse and flats at North Berwick Bowling Club has attracted opposition from neighbouring residents.

Objector Geoff Ramsay, who lives in Macnair Avenue, told the local community council at its monthly meeting that the development would form a “complete wall” in front their houses.

He explained: “The entire outlook of all the principal rooms are to north. From side to side, top to bottom, all you would see are rows of windows. We would lose entirely, almost 100 per cent, any green aspect looking out of our windows.”

Evantyr Properties Ltd is hoping to get the go-ahead from East Lothian Council for the three-storey development of five three-bedroom flats on the unused west bowling green.
