Past and present pupils and staff of The Compass School in Haddington have started a year of celebrations to mark its 50th birthday.
The school held a drinks reception at Oxenfoord Castle for current parents, former pupils, their parents and members of staff, past and present.
More than 300 people attended the event, with representation from every decade of the school, including two of the original 11 children who began the school in 1963.
In addition, all three headteachers who have led the Compass were present: Alny Younger (the school’s founder), Celia Budge (1992-97) and Mark Becher (1997-present), along with several other former members of staff from across the decades.
