Fury over day centre charges in East Lothian

East Lothian Council

East Lothian Council

Local care groups are urging East Lothian Council to think again on plans to introduce charges for disabled people using day centres.

Proposals passed by the council cabinet call for new charges to be introduced for services at day centres and transport to and from the centres.

Councillors have also backed increases in existing charges to adult wellbeing services, such as residential care, respite care, care at home and community alarms.

The charges are due to come into effect on April 1.
