This year’s Open golf championship at Muirfield near Gullane delivered nearly £70 million to the area, according to researchers.
An independent study commissioned by the competition’s organiser The R&A revealed the figure included a £24.4 million ‘total economic impact’ and a £45 million ‘destination marketing benefit’ from promotional exposure on global television.
