Communities in East Lothian are gearing up to welcome the Commonwealth Games Queen’s Baton Relay this summer.
The relay is due to pass through Musselburgh, Prestonpans, Cockenzie, Tranent, Longniddry, Aberlady, Dirleton, Gullane, North Berwick, Dunbar and Haddington on Tuesday, June 17.
Across Scotland, the baton will visit more than 400 communities, giving people a chance to be part of the excitement, celebrations and countdown to Scotland’s biggest-ever sporting and cultural festival in Glasgow (July 23-August 3).
Provost Ludovic Broun-Lindsay said: “The council, schools and community groups have been working on a range of projects related to the Commonwealth Games and I am greatly looking forward to welcoming the Queen’s Baton Relay in June.”
On March 31, thousands of people will find out whether their nominations to become
batonbearers have been successful.
