East Lothian Council is advocating tighter controls on proposed large wind farm developments.

Planning guidance covering wind farms of 12 megawatt or over was approved at a Cabinet meeting on Tuesday, with councillors agreeing to support a presumption against larger schemes across most of East Lothian.

Councillor Michael Veitch, the depute leader, said: “Our natural landscape is undoubtedly our county’s greatest asset and we must be wise custodians of it.”
