East Lothian campaigners speak out against ‘Gagging Bill’

Local campaigners are highlighting concerns about the Transparency of Lobbying, Non-party Campaigning and Trade Union Administration Bill, arguing that it places new restrictions on Scottish charities in the run-up to UK Parliament elections.

They handed a petition to local MP Fiona O’Donnell, who said: “The bill targets voluntary and community groups, amounting to a gag on charities and campaigners.”

The Government is due to amend the Bill.
