Members of Rwanda’s Commonwealth Games team were guests of honour at a welcome supper hosted by Dunbar Community Kitchen.

More than 100 people attended the event earlier this month, held in the Bleachingfield Centre which had been decorated with Rwandan flags made by children from the Countess After School Club.

A three-course dinner included specialities of both countries, such as cullen skink and Rwandan chicken stew pies.

Traditional Scottish entertainment was provided for the guests by local youngsters Katie Holton on pipes and Struan Young on accordion.

After dinner the tempo really picked up with a drumming band getting everyone on their feet to learn a few African dance moves.

Eleanor Coner, chairman of Dunbar Community Kitchen, said: “We are delighted that so many local people came out to welcome the Rwandan team and a great night was had by all.”
