A Wallyford woman who was found drunk and slumped unconscious when she should have been looking after a toddler has been ordered to carry out unpaid work in the community.

Emma Duffy was caring for the three-year-old boy when he was twice found wandering the streets in the middle of the night.

The tot was first discovered soaking wet and walking barefoot in freezing conditions by a passing dog walker outside the town’s railway station at around 5am last December

Duffy (27) was subsequently found lying out cold on a couch at home by police officers who had made their way to the property.

The boy was then found a second time “cold and shaking” on the town’s main road by a passing motorist at around 4.50am six weeks later.

Again drunk Duffy was discovered by officers lying sleeping in a bed in her home alongside fiancé Ian Lugton.
