Janitor Kenny McCrorie is on the move as are pupils and teachers at St Mary’s RC Primary School in Haddington which is set for demolition.

This week, they will say a fond farewell to the building, opened in the 1960s, which is now in a poor condition after suffering structural defects.

The children and teachers will move into nearby King’s Meadow Primary School — the nursery and P1 in a new temporary unit and P2 to P7 in four classrooms in a wing of King’s Meadow.

Popular janitor Mr McCrorie (46) of John Crescent, Tranent, is set for a new job at St Gabriel’s RC Primary School in Prestonpans on Monday, July 4.

Principal teacher Emma Robertson said, despite finishing up for the summer holidays, everyone will be “desperately upset” when it comes time to leave the school for the last time.
