Councillors vote to increase East Lothian rents

Council house rents are to rise by 4.3 per cent in East Lothian.

But, according to the SNP, more council houses need to be built and old ones modernised if the county is to tackle its lengthy tenant waiting list.

During last week’s debate on the council budget, the party proposed an annual £10 million investment in modernising East Lothian’s housing stock and upgrading kitchens and bathrooms.
