Council tenant evicted following drug investigation

Michelle Landells (40) of Summerlee, Prestonpans, has been evicted from her council property following an application to court by East Lothian Council following a breach in her tenancy agreement.

The breach resulted from the property being used for drug dealing and an earlier Police search had uncovered quantities of heroin and cannabis within the property.

An individual who was living at the property with Ms Landells was subsequently convicted of drug offences.

East Lothian Council leader, Willie Innes, said: “The Council takes a strong stance against drug dealing which has a corrosive impact on our communities. Although the person evicted was not the individual convicted of drug offences she did allow drugs to be within her property which is a clear breach of our tenancy agreement. I hope that this will send out a clear message to others about acceptable behaviour.”
