Haddington pupils have been putting their best foot forward this week in a bid to cut the amount of traffic outside their school.
The children from the Compass School in West Road have been taking part in a ‘park and stride’ initiative which is also aimed at encouraging them to enjoy a brisk walk to the classroom.
Head teacher Mark Becher explained that a large number of the youngsters came from all over East Lothian and had to rely on cars to get them to school each day.
He said: “This, of course, means that at drop-off and collection times there can be a significant increase in traffic around the school on West Road.”
