The charity, Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland, is urging East Lothian residents to make volunteering their New Year resolution.

Almost 1,500 helpers already give the organisation 140,000 hours each year to support community stroke services and raise funds to support its range of work.

A spokesman for CHSS explained: “As an accredited Investing in Volunteers award holder CHSS offers it volunteers the highest standard of training and support so anyone giving their time to the charity can be sure of being valued and appreciated as well as receiving excellent training.”
