East Lothian’s Labour MSP Iain Gray has extended public consultation on his Bus Regulation Bill proposal.
Local people can now submit responses up until October 11, rather than the earlier deadline of August 30.
Mr Gray explained that he held a series of meetings on the Bill over the summer and it became clear that there was a growing interest and support for it.
The Members’ Bill aims to give transport authorities greater power over how bus services are run. This includes a new franchising power to tender contracts for profitable and non-profitable routes togther, without seeking ministers’ consent or having to “demonstrate market failure”.
