The sombreros said it all as a successful and sun-soaked Musselburgh Festival reached its climax at the end of July.
As the temperatures soared so too did spectator numbers, with many events enjoying their biggest turnout for years.
Friday’s fancy dress parade, always a crowd pleaser, saw thousands flocking to line the route, from start to finish.
A total of 160 horses were entered for Saturday’s Festival Day Rideout, one of the best entries ever, while more than 1,000 people turned out for the fun day at Musselburgh Racecourse. Looking back on the week’s events, HTA President Neil Wilson said: “It was absolutely brilliant, partly due to the weather, which gave everything that feel-good factor. You have to go back to 70s for the last time the sun shone on the festival like that.”
