Work starts on new Dunbar cycle track
Pump track at Lochend Woods.
Work has started on £176,000 cycle fitness track in Lochend Woods at Dunbar.
The project, spearheaded by the Dunbar Community Woodland Group and Dunbar Cycling Group, attracted funding from Viridor Credits.
The pump track is a series of humps (rollers) and bermed corners over an area extending to 20 metres by 30 metres in the woods on the west side of Kellie Road.
The new facility, which is expected to be finished by the end of January, has been designed by local contractor Tree-ditions along with members of Dunbar Cycling Group and Dunbar Grammar School Cycling Club under the leadership of teacher Tom Fendick.
Dan Waters, chairman of Dunbar Cycling Group said: “Pump tracks are fun, keep you fit and can develop skills for mountain biking. The pump track can be used by people of all ages and abilities as the speed at which you ride is determined by your level of skill and they encourage children and adults to lead an active and healthy lifestyle.”
