Work starts on Gullane’s new medical practice and day centre
Work has started on a new £2.9 million medical practice and day centre at a site at Hamilton Road, Gullane.
The purpose built facility is due to be complete by November.
The building itself will feature locally accessed materials including sandstone and timber frames and the contemporary design incorporates energy efficient measures including a living sedum roof and air source heating. The heat pump extracts heat from the outside air in the same way that a fridge extracts heat from its inside and can get heat from the air even when the temperature outside is well below freezing.
The centre is being delivered by the hub South East Scotland Limited (hubCo) and built by GRAHAM Construction. The hubCo has been established to assist its public sector partners to develop community buildings on time and on budget. These new community facilities will support the delivery of co-located and shared services and over the next 10 years, projects worth over £300 million are expected under the Hub South East programme, which covers Edinburgh, Lothians and the Borders.
