School runs were affected as the hill foot areas of East Lothian were hit by snow this week.

Following an assessment of the roads on Tuesday morning, in the interests of safety, Prentice Coaches Ltd decided not to operate the 118 Longyester to Yester Primary School, Gifford, service or the 120, Garvald to Yester Primary School bus. The 157 route only ran from Morham to Knox Academy in Haddington and the 158 from Gifford to Knox.

Owner Ross Prentice said: “Overall we’ve not been too badly hit, the main roads have been well gritted and kept clear. Our school runs from Garvald and Longyester area have been hit as the snow is much more severe up there.”
