Views sought about council service at East Lothian graveyards

East Lothian Council is keen to gather views on the service it provides at local cemeteries and has set up a survey to gather public views.

Councillor Norman Hampshire, cabinet member for environment, explained: “East Lothian Council is responsible for maintaining 37 burial grounds across the county. Working in partnership with local undertakers we aim to provide a sympathetic and understanding customer service during a time of considerable emotional distress. We are asking local residents to let us know their experiences in relation to arranging or attending a funeral or attending a grave at an East Lothian cemetery so that we have a clear understanding of our current service and whether there are areas we may need to improve.”

The survey is available on the council’s website www.eastlothianconsultations.co.uk or can be completed on-line at each local library. Paper copies are also available on 01620 827270.
