Tranent school’s eco cash boost
Ross High eco group receives cheque from parent council
The Eco Group at Ross High School, Tranent, has received funding from the parent council to support future initiatives.
For several years now a dedicated group of pupils and staff have been working hard to make Ross High a greener school.
The eco group, E-Ross, has been working through the various national eco-school awards and is proud to hold bronze and silver level certificates.
It is also on the way to achieving its first Green Flag award. Current initiatives include the developing garden area, various recycling schemes for paper and cardboard and participation in the Rag Bag scheme to recycle clothes and fabrics.
This year, E-Ross also designed a reusable jute bag with the help of a £250 donation from the Ross High Parent Council.
The group is eagerly awaiting the arrival of the finished bags, which they hope to sell to pupils, parents and teachers to help fund future eco initiatives in the school.
Members of E-Ross are pictured being presented with the cheque by members of the parent council.
