East Lothian's New Year Baby, Ryan Harry Carrigan born at 3.25am weighing 7lb 7oz with mum Julia Dalziel and dad Richard Carrigan, Carlaverock View, Tranent.

Tranent couple Julia Dalziel and Richard Carrigan enjoyed the best possible start to the New Year with the safe arrival of their first child.

Due on December 24 , little Ryan Carrigan could have been the perfect Christmas present - but made his appearance eight days later as a special first footer. He became one of the first babies born at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary in 2013 when he was delivered at 3.25am on January 1, weighing 7lbs 7ozs.

Proud dad Richard (29) told the News: “We were both a bit sceptical about him sharing Christmas Day with his birthday so we were happy that his late arrival took his birthday away from Christmas, to make it two separate events.
