Tranent Christmas market is an A1 idea

To celebrate 30 years of trading, Tranent-based garden shed manufacturer A1 Sheds will be opening its shed and summerhouse doors to dozens of local traders this weekend.

The company is hosting the town’s first Christmas market, at its display centre at 130 High Street in Tranent from 11am to 5pm on Sunday - with each trader being allocated their own miniature festive shop for the day.

Fiona Veerman, who came up with the idea, said: ‘We’ve got over 20 garden buildings of all shapes and sizes on display, but at this time of year they are mostly empty and unused.

“I thought it would be a great idea to offer some of the best crafters and small businesses from East Lothian a shed, summerhouse, or playhouse for the day. Each trader will be encouraged to decorate their “shop” however they want, and because each building is different, they will be able to showcase their individual products in a unique setting.”
