Torness Nuclear Power Station near Dunbar was selected to feature in an international film about the nuclear industry’s response to the Fukushima disaster in Japan.

The IAEA – International Atomic Energy Agency – approached EDF Energy with a request to film in one of its UK nuclear plants and interview staff as an illustration about how the industry and the company in particular were implementing lessons from the events in March 2011.

Fukushima was the largest nuclear accident since the Chernobyl disaster in 1986. Following a major earthquake, a 15 metre tsunami disabled the power supply and cooling of three reactors, causing a nuclear accident.
