Three figure sum stolen from telephone kiosk in Musselburgh.
Lothian and Borders Police are appealing for witnesses following two vandalisms and thefts from telephone kiosks in Edinburgh and East Lothian last week.
The first incident happened around 7.45pm on Tuesday 26th February on Musselburgh’s High Street.
A BT phone booth was entered and the cash box was drilled into before a three-figure sum of cash was stolen.
Around an hour later at 8.40pm, another kiosk on Saughton Road North also had its cash box drilled into and a three-figure sum of cash was again taken.
Police are now urging anyone who remembers seeing anything suspicious in either of these areas to get in touch.
A police spokesman said: “Almost £1000 has been stolen from the cash boxes as a result of these two thefts and we are conducting local enquiries in both Edinburgh and Musselburgh to identify those responsible.
“Anyone with information that can assist with our investigations is asked to come forward.
“Similarly, anyone who sees suspicious activity in or around telephone kiosks is asked to report the matter to police immediately.”
Those with information can contact Lothian and Borders Police on 101, or the charity Crimestoppers in complete anonymity on 0800 555 111.
