Musselburgh Rotary Club hosts its Young Musician of the Year competition.
Loretto School Chapel was the venue for the 2013 Young Musician of the Year competition, organised by Musselburgh Rotary Club last week.
Held in association with Mansfield School of Music, Musselburgh Grammar School and Loretto, the competition was set up to find and encourage talented youngsters in the town.
The senior competition is split into two categories with Musselburgh Grammar pupil Rebecca Traynor winning the vocal section and pianist Robert Ogilvy, from Loretto, winning the instrumental section.
Both will go forward to represent Musselburgh in the district heats in a few weeks time. The junior competition was won by Marcus Yip, representing Mansfield School of Music, who played the piano.
An audience of around 60 people were treated to some excellent music from 11 junior and nine senior contestants.
The club would like to thank Ian Inglis former head of music at Tynecastle High School for judging , all the contestants and their families for their support and the three participating schools, in particular Loretto for hosting the event.
