Two East Lothian teenagers will be the first to get on-the-job experience as part of a new community benefits project launched in Scotland by Canon UK.

The multi-national firm, which produces imaging and digital products such as printers, scanners and cameras, is working with East Lothian Council on the initiative.

Liam McNeill (16) of Ross High School, and Kimberely Smith (17) from Knox Academy, have secured work placements at Canon’s Scottish headquarters at Livingston and the council’s HQ at John Muir House in Haddington.

Max Sykes, sector director for Canon in Scotland, said: “Canon got involved in this from the point of view of extending our partnership and reach with East Lothian Council – community involvement is part of our DNA.”
