Local supporters of the Better Together campaign took their message to the streets of Tranent recently.

Fiona O’Donnell MP and Iain Gray MSP were joined by Labour councillors and other campaigners in spelling out the case for safeguarding Scotland’s place in the United Kingdom.

They spoke to members of the community about their concerns about next year’s referendum and handed out information on the campaign’s key messages.

Local people were asked to sign up to the Better Together and to sign a petition supporting its aims.

Mr Gray said: “Now that the wrangling over the referendum question is out of the way, people in Tranent and across East Lothian are carefully examining the arguments on both sides of the debate.

“I believe most are already coming to the conclusion that Scotland should stay in the UK, which is why the Yes campaign continues to lag far behind in the polls.”
